Tips & Tricks
- Melt Chocolate Correctly: Melt your candy melts or chocolate carefully to avoid overheating, which can cause the chocolate to seize. Use a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently. If the chocolate is too thick, you can thin it with a bit of vegetable shortening or coconut oil, but avoid adding water-based liquids
- Decorate While Wet: After dipping your pretzels in the melted candy, add your sprinkles or other decorations while the chocolate is still wet to ensure they stick. You can use a combination of sanding sugar, sprinkles, and even small edible beads to create a festive look.
- Use a Cooling Rack or Wax Paper: To prevent sticking and to allow excess chocolate to drip off, place your dipped pretzels on a cooling rack with a sheet of wax paper underneath. This also makes for easier cleanup.
