HOW TO CUT FRESH CILANTRO

I love to use fresh herbs in my recipes. Especially cilantro. I use it all the time in dishes like these Blackened Fish Tacos and this Sopa de Lima. It has such a distinct taste that adds depth to pretty much any recipe you use it in.

One question I often get when sharing recipes that use fresh cilantro is how to cut it. Here is how to cut fresh cilantro in four quick and easy steps:

  1. First, holding the root ends of the cilantro with your non-cutting hand, use a large chef’s knife to scrape off the leaves using a downward motion.
  2. Next, use your fingers to remove any large stems from the cilantro leaves. The smaller, tender stems are okay to use.
  3. Now holding the top of the blade with your non-cutting hand, rock the blade back and forth to chop the cilantro.
  4. Lastly, scrape the leaves back into a pile and go over them with the knife several times until you get the size that you need.

WHAT GOES WITH CILANTRO LIME RICE?

This scrumptious side dish can be paired with all kinds of proteins and vegetables. Some of my favorite things to make include veggie bowls, fajitas, and even burritos.

You could also try it with some shrimp, or toss it together with sliced chicken for a knockoff of Chipolte’s famous Chicken Burrito Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice!

It also goes very well with grilled foods! Try it with some grilled veggie kabobs or some chicken and veggie kabobs. Or serve it alongside some grilled avocados. You get the idea!
