Whether you’re keeping it stocked in your pantry or gifting it in cute mason jars, this mix is a must-have for anyone who loves the flavors of apple, cinnamon, and spice.

I started making my own Apple Cider Mix years ago when I realized store-bought packets never hit the same note.

Some were too sweet, others too bland, and don’t even get me started on the weird ingredients I couldn’t pronounce!

Once I mixed up my first homemade batch, I never looked back.

Now, it’s one of those “always on hand” mixes in my kitchen, perfect for chilly mornings, cozy nights, and last-minute gift baskets.

Tips for the Perfect Cup

Storage Tips

Do not refrigerate or freeze your Apple Cider Mix, moisture will cause clumping.

If you have a moisture-absorbing packet (like the kind that comes in spice jars or snacks), toss one into your container to extend freshness.

Apple Powder Substitution

Can’t find apple powder? No problem! Use 3 ounces of freeze-dried apples and pulse them into a fine powder with a spice grinder. That’ll give you the exact amount needed for this recipe.

Pro Stirring Hack

Cinnamon can be stubborn and float on top. Use a battery-powered milk frother to blend your cider, it mixes the spices perfectly for a smooth sip.

Smooth Texture Option

If you prefer zero spice texture, pour your drink through a tea bag before sipping. It’ll be a little lighter in flavor but beautifully clear.

🍪 Gift It in a Basket

🍸 Spike It for Adults

Mix with hot water and a splash of spiced rum or bourbon for a grown-up nightcap that feels like fall in a cup. For extra flair, rim your glass with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Equipment

  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Medium Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Fine Mesh Strainer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar loosely packed
  • 1 Cup White Granulated Sugar
  • ½ Cup Apple Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Clove

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and whisk until fully combined.
  • If there are lumps, run the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, using the back of a spoon to crush the lumps through the mesh.
  • Store in a sealed container, in a dark dry spot for up to 2 months.

To Make Apple Cider Using the Mix:

  • Boil 10 ounces of water and add 4 teaspoons of the apple cider mix to the glass.
  • Mix well and enjoy!

Notes

  • Do not store in the fridge or freezer as this will introduce moisture into the mix, which will cause it to clump and harden.
  • If you have a moisture absorbing packet, you can add that to your jar of apple cider mix for it to last even longer.
  • If you can’t find apple powder (it’s pretty easy to nab online), you can take 3 ounces of freeze dried apples and reduce them to powder in a spice grinder. The 3 ounces, once turned to powder, will be the exact amount you need for this recipe.
  • I like using one of those little battery powered milk frothers to mix the cider. It really mixes in the cinnamon, which can be a tad stubborn and sit on top of the drink.
If you don’t like chancing any texture in your drink, you can use a tea bag, although I find it’s not as strong going this route
