Tips for Perfect Eagles Jello Shots
✔ Don’t Overdo the Alcohol – Too much vodka will prevent the layers from setting properly. Stick to the measurements!
✔ Chill Between Layers – Each layer needs at least 2 hours in the fridge before adding the next.
✔ Make Ahead – These shots can be made up to 2 days in advance, just don’t garnish until serving time.
✔ Whipped Cream Warning – If you add whipped cream too early, it may melt. Garnish right before serving.
✔ Don’t Freeze – Freezing will change the texture and ruin the layers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Can I make these Eagles Jello Shots without alcohol?
Yes! If you want a kid-friendly or non-alcoholic version, simply replace the vodka with white grape juice, lemon-lime soda, or coconut water. They’ll still have the same layered look and delicious flavor without the booze.
2. How far in advance can I make these jello shots?
You can make these up to 2 days in advance, but make sure to cover them with plastic wrap to prevent them from drying out. Do not garnish with whipped cream until right before serving, as it will melt over time.
3. Can I use flavored vodka for these jello shots?
Absolutely! Flavored vodka adds a fun twist. Some great options include:
- Coconut vodka for a tropical kick
- Vanilla vodka for a creamy touch
- Citrus vodka to enhance the jello flavors
4. What happens if I add too much alcohol?
If you add too much vodka, the jello won’t set properly. Stick to the ½ cup per layer measurement for the perfect texture. Too much alcohol can make the layers runny and watery instead of firm and structured.
5. Can I freeze jello shots to make them set faster?
No, freezing jello shots is not recommended. Freezing changes the texture and can cause the layers to separate. Instead, let them set in the fridge for at least 2 hours per layer.
6. How do I get the perfect color for the midnight green layer?
To get that signature Eagles green, mix:
- 4 drops teal food dye
- 4 drops blue food dye
- 7 drops forest green food dye
If you want a shortcut, you can use teal green food coloring instead of mixing multiple colors.
7. What kind of shot glasses should I use?
Plastic shot glasses (1.5-ounce size) work best because they’re easy to serve and dispose of after the party. You can also use glass shot glasses, but they require washing and may be harder to transport for tailgates.
8. How do I make the whipped topping look professional?
Use a frosting bag with an Ateco 824 tip for a clean, swirled look. If you don’t have one, you can also:
- Spoon the whipped cream on top
- Use a zip-top bag with a small corner cut off for piping
9. Can I change the colors to match a different football team?
Of course! You can customize the food dyes and jello flavors to match any team’s colors. Swap the silver, green, and black for your team’s shades.
10. How do I store leftover jello shots?
Keep them covered in the fridge for up to 2 days. After that, the layers may start to bleed into each other, and the texture may change. Do not freeze them.

Fun Variations
- Non-Alcoholic Version – Swap vodka for lemon-lime soda or white grape juice.

- More Color Options – Hosting a different sports party? Change the food dye to match your team!
- Glitter Effect – Add extra silver luster dust to make them even more eye-catching.

Instructions
Silver Layer
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the unflavored gelatin and ½ cup cold water. Give a slight stir so that all the gelatin powder is covered with water. Leave to sit for about 5 minutes or until the gelatin has fully bloomed (no longer looks powdery).
- Pour the ¾ cup boiling water over the top of the gelatin and stir until it’s fully dissolved.
- Remove 2 ounces of milk from the sweetened condensed milk can, and set aside. Pour the remaining sweetened condensed milk (12 ounces) into the gelatin mixture. Whisk until fully dissolved.
- In a small dish, combine the ½ cup vodka and luster dust. Stir until thoroughly mixed.
- Pour the luster dust mixture into the gelatin bowl and stir.
- Place the two drops of black food dye in the bowl and stir.
- Line your shot glasses up on a moveable surface like a baking sheet, and put ½ an ounce of the silver jello into each glass.
- Place in the fridge to chill for 2 hours or until fully set.
Midnight Green Layer
- Once the silver layer is fully set, place the green jello and ¾ cup boiling water in a medium mixing bowl, and stir until the jello has fully dissolved.
- Add the ½ cup cold water and ½ cup vodka to the bowl and stir.
- Add the 4 drops teal dye, 4 drops blue dye, and 7 drops forest green dye to the bowl and stir well.
- Add the 2 ounces of sweetened condensed milk that were set aside and whisk until fully dissolved.
- Place ½ an ounce of the midnight green jello into each shot glass and place the shots back in the fridge for 2 hours, or until the green layer is fully set.
Black Layer
- Combine the orange jello and ¾ cup boiling water in a medium mixing bowl and stir until dissolved.
- Add the ½ cup cold water and ½ cup vodka to the bowl and stir.
- Add the 4 drops black dye to the bowl and stir well.
- Place ½ an ounce of the black jello into each shot glass and place back in the fridge for 2 hours or until the black layer has fully set.
Garnish
- Place a dollop of whipped topping on top of each shot, if desired. I place the whipped topping in a frosting back with an Ateco 824 frosting tip and make the swirls. It makes for a prettier presentation and will make it look just like the photo. Enjoy!
Notes
● If you don’t mind the green shade being off just a bit, you can simply use this teal green dye instead, and skip the three other dyes for that layer.
● It’s important that you do not add more alcohol than what’s recommended. If you do, the jello won’t fully set and your layers will blend together.
